As a DBA at GKMIT, you won’t just manage systems—you’ll shape how our infrastructure evolves. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to support product growth, performance tuning, and seamless data migration across cloud environments.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex backend challenges, owns infrastructure outcomes, and can lead from both a technical and operational front.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator
• Strong production-level experience with PostgreSQL
• Proven success with database migrations, especially on cloud platforms like GCP
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues (performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, connectivity challenges)
• Monitor and maintain multiple database environments, ensuring uptime, security, and integrity
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate provisioning, CI/CD workflows, and monitoring
• Optimize performance through indexing, query tuning, and configuration adjustments
• Lead database migrations—on-prem to cloud (preferably GCP) and heterogeneous migrations (e.g., Oracle/MySQL → Postgres)
• Implement robust backup, recovery, and high availability strategies (using Barman, EDB tools)
• Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and root-cause resolutions
• Enforce database security, access control policies, and compliance with industry standards
• Support application development teams with schema design, stored procedures, and DB infrastructure recommendations
• Conduct incident response with timely RCA reports and customer-focused resolution strategies
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and monitoring
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native database operations, preferably GCP
• Solid understanding of EDB, Barman, EFM, and Postgres-related tools
• Experience with stored procedures, HA, and load balancing
• Proficiency in backup/recovery for PostgreSQL Community and EDB editions
• Familiarity with heterogeneous migrations (Oracle/MySQL to Postgres)
• Strong scripting and automation mindset for repeatable DB tasks
• Clear communicator with a collaborative, team-first approach
• Ability to analyse and fix complex database issues independently and under pressure
• Bonus: Exposure to Oracle/MySQL as secondary DBs
• Bonus: Experience building infra-as-code workflows for database setup and deployment
• Bonus: Knowledge of industry compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2)
